WHY BEING MAXED IN CLASH ROYALE SUCKS

So you're a 5k noob in CR who dreams about being maxed so you can truly show off your skills and finally begin enjoying the game. I hate to burst your bubble, but the grass ain't greener on this side of the fence, my friend. The only people who really gain anything out of being fully maxed are the pros and the absolute best players in the game. These people can dream of a really high finish or possibly even getting that coveted No #1. We are talking about 0.000000000000001% of players. Okay, so I made up that number, but it is not far off the mark and you get the picture. The rest of us spend season after season swimming in an ocean of mediocrity. Eventually everybody hits their skill-cap and cannot go much further. After a year of getting 6300-6600 finishes, I can tell you that it gets boring very, very quickly. My hope of salvation was the update, but we all know how that went. I guess I can enjoy the other things the game offers. Maybe I should focus on earning my 100 GC badge. If only I didn't have to beat an army of pros to win my first one. After a while, even a whale like me realises that 100 gems for a 4-3 finish is kinda moronic. There are other challenges. I could play a mode which spawns egolem armies or has a giant mortar in the river, so as to win all these rewards which I don't need because I'm maxed. Unfortunately there's no appeal in these novelty acts. Then there was the update. Sorry boys, but me beating up on under-levelled players doesn't give me any joy. For two weeks, I enjoyed CW2, but that was only because I was in a Creator Clan competing to beat other clans. I made my own fun and joy with some Twitter banter (Hi KFC and co) and actually laughed when SB trolled me and his crew tried to sabotage us. Then the pin was pulled on that and CW are now a chore and worthless to me. I can't use my $3m gold for anything. Put simply, as a maxed player there is nothing to do. My one joy, at the moment, is the global tourney. I don't know what it is, but there is a certain excitement of playing GT matches even though I usually only get about 15 wins. I think it is the hope that I could get a run of decent match ups and possibly get a mid 20s result. Basically, that competitive urge is satiated. Alas, the GTs went from weekly, to fortnightly, to monthly. Sweet Baby Jesus gave me something to cherish and then promptly took it away. I would love for them to return to weekly with all the different modes. The mini deck was fantastic. It was exciting to hit the button and see which 40 cards would get dished up for me to choose from. Now it is normal battle every single time. At least, as a very bad golem player who is an expert at spamming, I could enjoy double elixir mode. Golem, support cards, nado, lightning...rinse n repeat. If we look back at the updates for the last two years, everything has been geared towards the newer players and helping their progression. Trophy Road, Pass Royale, Trade Tokens etc etc I understand why, because it is what most people complain about, but the CR universe needs some balance. What about me? I've been playing for about 3.5 years. I've put enough money into the 6 family accounts to cure world hunger. I've treated this game as if I was Jeff Bezos with unlimited pockets, but now that I have reached the end game everyone pursues, there is nothing. In conclusion, I wish to address two groups of people. Firstly, the 5k noobs... I know progression still seems slow and that ladder can throw up bad MUs in terms of cards levels, but my advice to you is to learn to enjoy the grind and the challenge of battling over-levelled road blocks with no skills. I play a lot on my latest mini account purely for that reason. It is more fun than playing on my maxed. To the devs... Please recognise that people like me who have maxed accounts have paid our dues. We built this game and we deserve to be considered a significant part of the demographic rather than "Thanks for the service" and ignored. Most of this community is on Twitter, and we have been screaming for a new competitive mode for an eternity, but to date, we have been unheard. Well, maybe heard, but nothing has been done. I love the game, and as someone in semi-retirement, it fills my empty hours, so I am not going to quit, but I totally understand why many have and will continue to do so. Please invest something into those who have been loyal rather than only into the newcomers who will spend more. This loyalty should be a two way street. Clash Royale is in crisis mode right now. We might even be in worse shape than the climate or Trump's covid infested lungs. Here's the thing: We did what we did to get the climate to this crisis point, and if we keep doing the same things, nothing will change and suddenly get better. The same applies to Clash. If you keep doing the same things, nothing will change and get better. I want planet Earth to survive and I want CR to survive. Both are ailing instead of thriving, but denial ain't a river in Africa and nor is it a solution. The solution begins with accepting that what we have been doing so far is no longer working. Thanks for reading, Gramps.
